Teen TrackingScenario: Rebecca was a caring mother of two children, one aged 10, and one aged 16. She had an excellent relationship with both of her children and could openly discuss various issues, particularly with her teen. One night, whilst driving to the corner store, Rebecca noticed a group of teens loitering in the local park, drinking from a case of beer. She shook her head in disgust, and muttered "where are their parents?" On her way home, she noticed the same teens, walking down the road, carrying their case of beer and shouting out obscene language. To her surprise, she noticed that one of the teens was her own...
This situation could happen to anyone. Teens can say that they are going one place, and end up in another. There are many situations, as adults are aware that can go drastically wrong. Some situations are more dangerous than others, which adults are aware of because of life experience, and seeing others go through it. However, as teens are growing up and becoming adults, they are sometimes unsure of the consequences that various situations can hold. While it is important to let them work some things out for themselves, to gain their own life experience, it is very stressful as a parent to sit at home, and to have doubt about where their teens are and what situations they are involved in.
